Vet bills can become more expensive than a vacuum cleaner. Food, toys, bedding, treats, and even a cute sweater can add up. This list includes low-cost options for vet care in the Greater Seattle area.

1. Seattle Animal Shelter

The Seattle Animal Shelter offers low-cost vet care for both new pets and long-term friends. SAS fees are based on household income and follow a sliding-scale structure. SAS will cover a spay/neuter procedure if the pup’s pet bank is not sufficient. When you make an appointment, please mention that you require assistance.

Keep an eye out for events such as support groups and low-cost clinics.

2. A good neighbor vet

Good Neighbor Vet operates a mobile clinic and travels all over Washington and Oregon. Their first-come-first-serve vet clinic on wheels offers medical and preventative services, plus a full “puppy package” with everything a young pup could need. Your fluff’s activity level is considered when they design vaccines and care packages. Good Neighbor strives for a low cost service to as many doggos possible. Check their other locations or mark your calendars for the next Seattle clinic.

3. Rainer Animal Fund

The Rainier Animal Fund expanded its non-profit operations in 2019 to offer low-cost vet care for those who are most in need. RAF provides complete care including a vaccination, spay/neuter and a health clinic. To see if your eligibility for assistance, visit their website. Here are the upcoming clinic events.

If your woofer requires more support, RAF grants are available to help with the impossible task of paying that huge bill or saying goodbye forever. It’s not that we’re crying.

4. Doney Coe Pet Clinic

Doney Coe Pet Clinic is the first no-cost nationwide vet clinic. It has been serving Seattle’s pets since 1985. Doney Coe’s mobile vet clinics are available to low-income families or those in unstable housing from 12-3 p.m. on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month. Many services are offered, including vaccinations and minor injuries care. Referrals can also be made if necessary.

Visit their Facebook page to find out more about their next mobile clinic and make an appointment at info@doneycoe.org.

5. Seattle Veterinary Outreach

Seattle Veterinary Outreach is committed to your dog’s well-being. SVO offers free vet care for those in need and low-income families. Services for dogs include vaccinations, prevention and treatment of parasites, nail trimmings and many other services. The clinic is first-come-first-serve, so fren’s gonna get you up early. For the next time your doggo needs care, take a look at their wellness clinic calendar.

6. Seattle Humane

Since 1897, Seattle Humane has been fighting for the welfare of our furry friends. A low-income wellness center is available by appointment from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday and Saturday. It provides medical, preventive, and end of life services. The service fees they offer are calculated on a sliding scale. Contact Pets For Life, Seattle Humane’s fund for low-income families or those in housing insecurity if rent is due.

7. Lynnwood, Helping Hands Vet Clinic

Helping Hands Vet Clinic offers holistic and traditional pet care. Fifi will get the best possible treatment. They offer a wide range of services that will make your pooch feel special, even during shots. They don’t offer sliding-scale pricing but they are still here to help. Helping Hands created the Dakota’s Fund in memory of their beloved Beagle to assist those who are struggling with vet bills. Dakota is a great doggie friend.

Four Paws Lifeline

Four Paws Lifeline, a Washington non-profit, provides funding for animals who are in urgent or critical need. They understand how much you love your pet and won’t force you to jump through hoops. Visit their website to learn how you can apply for assistance.

Budkis Fund

Budkis Fund was named after the late English Bulldog that the founder owned. It was created in 1990 to assist low-income seniors in Puget Sound Community with emergency pet care. You can contact them to confirm your eligibility or to just comment on how adorable Budkis was

Are there any other low-cost vet clinics in the Greater Seattle area? We’d love to hear from you in the comments and we’d be happy to share this article with any pawdy who needs it.
