Dogs can eat Kiwis, but not too many!

Kiwis are sweet, tart, and fuzzy. They are a favourite of fruit lovers all over the world, and a common ingredient in fruit salads with a controversial reputation. Many people enjoy kiwi, and are happy to have the chance to eat one of these tiny fruits. Some people find the sour taste of kiwi unpleasant, while others find it irritating.

What do dogs think about them? Can dogs eat kiwi?

It turns out that kiwi can be eaten safely by dogs in moderation. Many dogs also love the tartness and juicy texture of the fruit.

Are Kiwi Dog Safe?

Yes! Kiwi is safe for dogs, and can be fun (and healthy!) for them. You can add kiwi to your dog’s special treats rotation. Dogs love the taste of kiwi. However, even though they may be enamored with this fruit, it is best to not give your dog too many. Some dogs may be allergic to kiwi. Make sure you start slowly and keep an eye on your dog to ensure they don’t react.

Kiwi’s nutritional value

While Kiwis are rich in vitamins C, potassium and folate, they don’t necessarily make your dog “good”. Treats should not be considered a major source of nutrition for your dog. They should get the majority of their calories and nutrients from their regular diet. The small amount of kiwi your dog eats shouldn’t have any negative impact on their overall health.

Tips to Safely Feed Kiwi To Your Dog

Even though kiwis can be small, it is not a good idea for your dog to eat them whole. A large amount of kiwi can be too much for your dog, and the whole fruit can pose a danger to your dog’s health, especially for small dogs.

We recommend that you cut the fruit into thin slices so your dog can enjoy them. People may choose to remove the skin because it can cause gastrointestinal distress and/or choking hazards when given whole. However, this is unnecessary if the fruit is being cut into appropriate sized pieces.

You shouldn’t give your dog kiwis every day, even if they love them. You should treat your dog to a special occasion with fruits like kiwi, and not as a regular treat.
