Global Pet Expo was a wonderful opportunity to meet Larry Kay, a talented film-maker and passionate rescue advocate. He was there to promote his new book, “The Big Book of Tricks For the Best Dog Ever”, which he co-wrote along with Chris Perondi, a trainer, rescue advocate, and performer.

I did a quick interview, and received a signed copy of the book with 118 tips to review.
Positive Dog Training is The Approach
Trick training should be rewarding and enjoyable. Positive reinforcement dog training is where we praise and reward the dog’s achievements and mistakes, but ignore them all. Positive dog training can make dogs more social and strengthen our relationship. Larry.
Four years ago, I began fostering Kilo the Pug and eventually adopted the pug. He was very anxious and reactive and had little training. Both of us have had a wonderful experience with trick training. Kilo, just like Larry’s shelter dog Spider is a completely different little boy. We’re always open to learning and practicing new things.
What training does the book cover?
The Big Book of Tricks for the Best Dog Ever contains training programs for all dogs:
Program for beginners with 20 tricks for dogs.
Intermediate level program with 33 dog tricks, and additional training methods.
Pro Level training programs:
Filmmaking with your dog
Live Performance
Dancing with Your Dog
Extreme Stunts and Sports
“Every dog is different. They have their own learning styles, natural abilities, and motivations. There are many ways to win when learning dog tricks.
The book provides step-by-step instructions on how to teach your dog tricks and other stunts. It also teaches you how to identify your dog’s strengths. Kilo is stubborn, but he loves food and my attention.
The book’s instructions are well-written and explained. This book would have been a great gift for me years ago.
It was a pleasure to see Sara Carson, my friend and talented trainer, quoted. Kilo and me had a wonderful course together and she has her Puppr app so that he can learn a lot of beginner and intermediate tricks. However, there are many more in this book.
Roll over, take a knee, play dead and look shy are some of the skills we are working on. He prefers to do it for 5 minutes at a stretch and only at home, but he also enjoys the extra reward of filming.
